GROOVE ACADEMY
Synergy Sessions
These are our main sessions on Saturday's where all members of Groove Academy come together to work on repertoire, socialise, learn to work in a team, have discussions, write songs, talk about forthcoming events, discuss strategy, etc. Depending on the project(s) being worked on, the individual Synergy Sessions can be adapted for rehearsals in the run up to a performance.
These sessions give our members the opportunity to work in groups, where they have the chance to work on more and more complex arrangements. Both instrumentalists and vocalist quickly develop new skills and techniques in this environment.
PROJECTS FOR 2017
Groove Academy in partnership with St John's, Hampton Wick, will be running a series of band nights at The Warehouse, Hampton Wick.
We look forward to seeing young musicians from all over Southwest London coming along to perform at this great venue.
Due to the success of the Band Nights at YMCA Basement, Kingston, when they finished this project, we met with the Youth Pastor from St John's and decided to partner in continuing with a new series at The Warehouse, a great venue they have, just behind their church building.
Music For Youth National Festival
In September 2017 we will begin rehearsals to enter our young people into the prestigious National Festival Series for 2018.
Song Writing Project
In early 2017 we worked on our song writing skills and have now entered Song Academy's Annual song writing competition for under 18's.
