Towards the end of 2015, Mark, co-founder of Groove Academy made the decision to concentrate on his guitar building business and various other projects.
We are sad to see him go and have appreciated all the hard work and dedication he put in to seeing the Academy develop and grow and wish him well for the future.
Angela, co-founder now takes over the management of the organization.
During the transition period, a break was taken for restructuring and Groove Academy will be relaunching on Saturday 5th March 2016.
We look forward to a successful 2016 which includes new opportunities, new partnerships and hope to broaden our membership base too.
With her support, several young adults, either current or former members of Groove Academy, most who have studied music at further and/or higher education, will now be involved in the running of the music mentoring within the academy. This is an exciting time for Groove Academy as it will give those young people who have gone through the programme a chance to develop their leadership skills and share their knowledge and experience with younger musicians.
Introducing the Music Mentors, Chelsea, Aren, Oisin, Matt, Jim, Joanna, Youssef, Callum, Aaron and Maddie. They are all dedicated young musicians. Most have completed music courses at further education colleges and sixth forms including Brit School. Kingston College, Brooklands College, Teddington and Esher Schools, etc. Some are at university studying music and several are gigging musicians.
